Default EFI Live or HP Tuners

So I am saving up for some tuning software. I am just not sure which to go with. I have a shop here that I am contemplating tuning my truck. They use HP Tuners or SCT. They have done great on many mustangs running around here. They have done LSx tuning, but no one I know personally. Eventually I want to tune my truck myself, but need the software to learn on first.

So my problem lies with which software is best suited for my truck? My truck is a 2011 ccsb 4wd 6.2L 6 speed. I heard a rumor (read it on the Internet-so it must be true) that EFI Live doesn't support the 6L80E trans near as completely as HP Tuners. Also, from what I've seen on this board, the 6.2 can be temperamental to tune. This is my everyday rig, can't afford to pop a motor and fork out the cash for a forged rebuild. Yet.

Any help swaying my decision as to which one to buy will be appreciated.

There is a lot of info, tutorials, literature on either brands of software. I use hp tuners not for any other reason than it's the one I chose. I am completely satisfied with my choice and would do it again. You will get opinions on both brands but it comes down to you. Surf hp tuners forum and efi live forum and chose what you feel comfortable with.

Im using EFI Live and love it. But I have a gen III and a 4l60E. Download the free versions of each and mess around with the software. see which one you like best.

I appreciate the quick responses. I am leaning towards HP Tuners , since that is what the local shop uses.

So there are not any things that one can do better/more than the other? Specifically on a 6.2 6spd truck?

I have been using EFILive since it came out. Have also used HPTuners. Both will get the job done, but there is one thing about EFILive that makes me say it is better - serial wideband capability - much better than analog. I also prefer the layout and labeling of EFILive, but that could just be familiarity...

Using the same software that a local shop uses could be a real benefit if you decide to work with them on your truck.

I use HP Tuners and love it. The support team at HPT is awesome and I like the lay out.
