I would think most of the dash gauges would still work... I'm not 100% sure.... I dont really understand your issue other than needing a drive by wire throttle body. both HPTuners and EFIlive can tune cable and drive by wire engines...

he wants to use the cable vs. dbw.

correct me if im wrong but, while comparing in hp tuners an 04 to 01 there is a difference which is the dbw but, all the tables you need for the cable tb are there, just not really used. he should be able to use the 04 pcm and just manually input the cable tb parameters from the 01 pcm into the 04 pcm and then hell probably have to do some work on the harness because im sure the pin out is different. then he might have to do a segment swap for the 5 spd tranny because im not really sure what trans came with that motor. imo it would be easier to just use dbw but, thats not one of his options i guess. you might be able to get away with using the 01-02 computer, i dont see why it wouldnt work. atleast its worth a try instead of trying to do all the above. correct me if im wrong (again) but i think there have been a few people on here who have swapped from 04-06 to 02-03 pcms to get rid of dbw with 6.0 swaps.

So option A is
get a dbw throttlebody
get a dbw control module
get a dbw pedal assembly
repin for the dbw pedal

or option b
get a earlier pcm
dont know the communication bus issues??
still need the 600 dollar tuning software anyhow

or option c

Go with a msd ls1 igniton controller which comes with software
and get a megasquirt to control the injection which comes with software

Let me make some phone calls

ed, why would you have to re-pin for the dbw? if you get an 04+ pcm and 04+ harness(including pedal harness) there should not be any re-pinning. only reason for re pinning would be if you went with an 01-02 harness on an 04 pcm due to the difference in throttle bodies and probably the alternator as well. p.s. i own extremeefi!!!!!

i just recently did a motor swap on an 06 silvy. he had a v6 and we went to an iron block 5.7. we used an 04 harness, pcm, tb, pedal and pedal harness. runs great. only pining we did was for the e-fans. and had to change the alternator due to the difference in plugs
