Default FI tunning basics?

I need a few pointers to get the starter tune built for my 370/KB combo. I have the motor pretty much dialed in N/A in OLSD. I will be running a MAF tune initially but may go to the HPT 2bar SD OS in the future pending MAF results.
Any suggestions as to what all I need to change from the N/A tune?
-What should the timing tables look like?
-When should PE be enabled for fuel enrichment?
-Is part throttle boost enrichment handled thru PE?

A couple of things:
1) your VE table will be off
2) your PE will be off
3) you will probably have way to much timing in the boost areas

I like to set a constant timing for the boost areas when tuning and then tune in the advance after the fueling is nailed. I usually just set everything to 16* up top.

PE should be enabled way earlier than with NA to allow it time to get the fuel you need for boost. I don't run PE anymore, but when I did I enabled it at 1800rpm (started hitting serious boost about 2000-2200, full boost was 3000) and set the MAP enable at 60-65 or something like that. You also want the delay turned off (I've forgotten which, but one of the parameters gets set to '1' to basically say give me what's in the PE table right now).

Part throttle is controlled by your MAF and VE table on a sliding scale of importance. MAF doesn't work well at low RPMs (1800 and lower I believe), so the VE is used exclusively. Between that rpm setting and around 4k, the fuel is blended between the two and higher than 4k, it's all MAF.

You also need to open up the IAT timing add table. NA it start pulling timing at really low IATs (for an FI setup). I zero all that out up to about 140*.

Heh it's been a while since I switched from an NA tune to an FI tune -- that's all I can remember right now

Erik, how are you bypassing PE to get other than stoich commanded AFR while in boost? Are you running a MAF tune or custom 2 or 3 bar speed density OS?

I have read mention of changing something so that the pcm uses MAF souly and ignors the VE completely for anything above 500(?)rpm. It supposedly makes the throttle transitions crisper and more responsive. Have you heard anything about this?

I run a custom 2bar SD tune with an rpm vs. kpa commanded fuel table. I just set the PE to never be enabled.

IMO you can't run a pure MAF tune. The MAF isn't all that reliable under 4k (which is why they blend the two tables) and not at all reliable under 1800.

Good information. Another thing you may run into if you go to 2bar, the MAF won't work right (at least in EFIlive) when you have a 2bar OS and try to re-connect the MAF.

I have a 2bar and I have ran mine with and w/out the MAF. I did tune the MAF table using BEN's though. I couldn't tell much difference with it using it. I was hoping for better mileage, but it was the same.

I had a 2bar OLSD tune and re-installed the MAF. The truck would run perfect until it entered boost, then it would not add any more fuel then what was commanded at the point where it entered boost. I may not be explaining it right, dcjustin helped me figure it out when it was happening.
