Default First fill up with E85 @ 182,000 miles

All I did was put in a new AC Delco fuel filter this morning and then filled up with 20 gallons of E85. I bought a second filter and I'll change it out in a couple months, I'm sure the ethanol is going to loosen up a lot of gunk pre-filter.

Changed stoich value in EFI live to 10 (soft limit, not sure if it's the hard limit). I had to make a custom calc.pid for my NGK AFX so that EFI live calculated AFR correctly. Fired it up expecting it something eventful. Idled @ 9.6x AFR, cruising in the 9.5-9.7 range. A little rich, considering I had ~6 gallons on 93 in there, but pretty damn good considering no changes to the VE table whatsoever. Overall I'm quite pleased, drove smooth and there's very minimal smell from the exhaust now.

Didn't notice any difference in feel from gas, but I didn't expect any either given no change in timing. It might be idling a tad smoother but that's about it.

Well, damn, cold idle on E85 is rough! It doesn't want run well when cold at all. Tune needs a lot of work obviously. Once it warms up though its smooth as can be. AFR is around 8:1 right after startup eventhough commanded is in the mid 9s.

Yep, marine 8.1s. Bosch 127s will be in soon enough. I did read about you losing mpg with the 1000cc injectors, but mpg isn't really a concern of mine now, especially running ethanol. Last log I got 10 mpg just putting around, although It was a little on the rich side (14.30s on gas scale).

Yeah i did not like those 1000cc injectors. Perhaps if efilive would release the default minimum injector pulse width parameter.

I dont understand your wanting to run e85. You will spend a fortune in fuel system parts when a good meth kit and 100% meth will do the same thing and be far cheaper.

From my reading, the benefits of e85 are well documented over gasoline with FI. I don't want to deal with an extra fuel system (meth) and any consequences if it fails.

Also, I don't foresee any fortune in fuel system parts. Any difference in price for injectors is offset by the price of a meth kit. Dual walbro 450 or 255 is the same as gas. The rest of the fuel system is bone stock.

Plus, the benefits of e85 can be realized all the time, I'm assuming you aren't spraying meth all the time. So you can bump part throttle timing up beyond the limits of 93 for a snappier motor out of boost. I've also noted that my exhaust temps are down compared to gas, turbo is running much cooler which is good thing for underwood temps and all the other stuff situated around the turbo.

add fuel to the start up tables and it will smooth out the idle. also add timing across the board above idle. dial in the pe side of it. leave the stoich around 10.4.

have fun

Night and day difference when I fill up with E85, feels like an extra 40-50rwhp. Wheatley spent some time on the cold idle, as initially E85 had a bit of a rougher idle at startup, but smooth as butter now.

I get about 9mpg around town and 13 on the highway on E85, (12.5/15 with 93).
