fuel gauge
I got a 01 sierra. Fuel gauge is screwed. I'm sure there are plenty of you on here that have crossed this problem since it is a big problem with these trucks. Is there any way of fixing it without buying new parts??

yup the easiest way is to put a dipstick in the gas tank to check the level.
or you can just drop the tank and replace the pump and sender

Did not accuse you of being cheap. All I asked was how to think you can fix something without wanting to do it correctly or by replacing the part....or putting effort into it.

Cuz I was told the sensor has some contacts that loosen up and cause the fuel gauge to hit and miss. So u was asking if anybody had attempted to fix it without buying parts. ****

The contacts break off the sensor, they are about the size of these 2 space marks -- take the tank off, drain the tank and look for them. If you figure out how to put them back of please post a writeup on how to do it.

What do you mean it is screwed? Chevys have had problems with fuel gauges for as long as I can remember. My first chevy was a 1977 Blazer that had the same gauge issues that my 2008 does. If by screwed you mean inaccurate, you might as well accept the inevitable. lol
