The idea behind this seems like it ought to work but if I'm understanding this right it makes tow haul pretty much useless otherwise? That being said I never use it anyway. I was going to set my tow haul up to incorporate some engine braking downshifts but may have to look into gear holding below a certain TPS too. As responsive as a 60E is to downshift I prefer to have my everyday shifting very tight and responsive. I think I've got a 4 mph split between the 1-2 and 2-1 upshift/downshift and a 5 mph split on the 2-3 and 3-2 and a 6 mph split on the 3-4 and 4-3. When I dip into the throttle it grabs a gear and goes pretty good for what it is.
The 80E in my 95 is dog slow to downshift. I zero'd the downshift tables and set the WOT qualifier to 50% so at 50% throttle the transmission is shifted as if it were at WOT and that helped quite a bit to get it grabbing gears but its still pretty slow compared to a 60E.

Its baby steps for me as im just finally changing small stuff in my entrance to tuning LOL.
The more seat time i have with the 80E i see what you guys are talking about so i wanna try and get it to down shift faster.
I do love this trans 100X better than my other ones though! 1st gear is so much better as instaead of spinning it just goes!
