Default help with an E10 question

I heard the other day from a person that 93 does not contain 10% ethanol. I had never heard that before but it actually explains something. When I run a log, I get 1.00 lambda, and on the same cell it is 14.7 AFR. That seems to me that there would be no ethanol or shouldn't I end up getting 1.00 lambda, and 14.17 AFR in the same cell?

It contains ethanol. Thing about most widebands is that the read in lambda, and display in AFR. It will not reflect 14.1 at 1.00 lambda with e10. It will always show 14.7, even if you were running e85.

Ahh ok, that's good info to know. I assume there is a setting in the calibration of the WB I could change if I wanted it to display 1 lambda =14.1 AFR. I will check it tomorrow. But I guess there is really no sense in changing it if everyone is used to the non E10 numbers.

I know you don't see the display, as its just voltages...but does that hold true for narrowbands as well?

I've tested samples of 93 octane at several stations around the country and they have all contained some ethanol, usually between 5%-10%.

I suppose their may still be a few random stations somewhere in the US that still have completely ethanol free fuel but I'd imagine it'd be few and far between.

Yes on the narrowbands, 450 mv is stoich regardless from what I've seen.
