How big of gains from lean cruise tune?
#11
My truck averages 22hwy and 18 city with my tuning. It's a 2000 ECSB with an 03 4.8, built 80E with stock converter, 3.73 gears, and 285/75-16 ProComp all terrains. It's also a lifted 2wd. It cruises between 15.8 and 16.2 AFR and 33-35 deg total timing at cruise. This is where I've seen my best results.

If it makes you feel any better I can only get 14-15 mpg highway out of a H/C 6.0/3600/80e/4.10s. In town I get 7-11 MPG.
Back when I had stock 16s and tires, stock 6.0, 4l60e, and 3.4s I got 23 mpg highway, no ****.
I honestly feel that the the 285/60/18 tires on all 4 corners made the largest difference in my fuel economy than any other factor. Hell, when I got them on I lost so much performance I HAD to swap to 4.10s. Once I got the 4.10s in it felt as peppy as it was with the stock wheels and tires.

I have the same size tires and that's what did me in also on my mileage. I would regear to something lower but I already have 3:73s and going to 4:10s wouldn't be worth the trouble. 4:30s or 4:56 would
be to low because I don't plan on going any bigger than a 33" tire, so those low of gears would kill my highway mileage.
