For roughly $650 you could buy the HP Tuners Pro and learn to do the tuning yourself. You can use 4 credits on your blown truck and have 4 that you can use for other cars that you may own.
If you prefer for them to do the tuning buy your tuner with the 8 credits, pay them to tune it and you can see what they did on your vehicle.
Whatever you do it would be a good idea to make sure they don't lock your tune or you'll be stuck with them.
If your both reasonable there should be an agreement you can reach so both parties are happy.

Your welcome. Look I am not knocking or putting down tuners or hand held tunes either. IMO they all have a place depending on what somebody wants, needs, and funds they have to accomplish those goals. I am also not trying to infringe on a tuners data base, that being said in this day and age you as a consumer need to spend your hard earned $ wisely!

Most tunershops would already have the unlimited tunershop license meaning they aren't having to pay for any "credits" at this point, I'm not sure why a tunershop would ever be charging their customer for a license. Every tunershop I've ever come across will just charge you a straight fee, whether thats $600, $700 or more but I don't think I've ever seen one break it down to $200 in credits, $200 in dyno time, $200 for R&D, etc lol. Considering the gen 3 tunershop license is less than $1500 its not like its a huge investment for a recognized shop.

I would stay away from this shop... Having to buy credits for your truck only goes to show just how much experience they have tuning..

Not the case anymore as gen4 trucks now only require 2 credits.. However, when it was more than 2 credits sometime back, it was not because they had a seperate pcm/tcm... It was just how hptuners had it price structered. The old 8.1's also have separate pcm/tcm and it was never over 2 credits/VIN.
