Default HP Tuners vs/and EFI Live

Like some others here, I'm fed up with EFI's disregard and lack up updates for the old PCMs.

I've done extensive research on adding an OEM flex fuel sensor to my 2000 with 2002 OS, and there is NO way to do it with a custom operating system. There is a single operating system from select 02 Tahoes and Silverados which support flex fuel but EFI never made a COS for it and they've stated there's not enough demand or time to do it. You can use that OS for 1 bar flex fuel, but that's useless for FI. The only other way to add flex fuel to a 99-02 via EFI Live is to swap to a 2004 GTO OS, but that requires a whole different PCM and repinning the connectors and god knows what else. And even then, you cannot do an 80e segment swap on that OS, so you're stuck with running it on the 60e tune.

HP Tuners DOES have a 2 bar OS for that specific operating system so I could have the PCM control my fueling based on ethanol % provided by the sensor. But at $649 for the software that's quite the pill to swallow ($500 if I wire my wideband thru the EGR). I'd add some other functionality over EFI live, but that's not a major point with me. I'm quite happy with EFI live in how my truck runs on it and I'm very comfortable using it. I know others here have switched over though with no issues.

If anyone knows how to run flex fuel COS on 99-02 via EFI Live post up!

What OS are you currently running?

I really can not think of a way around this for you other than going to a different PCM. I run the stock one for my truck 12592618. They have 80e's, flex fuel, and the vans had a cable operated throttle body, plus they offer the CAX file for it so you can run an extremely small pulse width with large injectors that E85 demands. I just ordered another computer and harness that should be here in a few days. I plan on switching it over to a cable driven throttle body, and run flex fuel also.

Hopefully blk02ws6 chimes in, he is very knowledgeable about this.
