HPT users...how are you killing TQM?
I altered the torque reduction table in the trans. section, i didn't mess with any of the tqm stuff on the timing side. what are you guys changing to get rid of it? i'm having some nasty timing pulled at the hit of the throttle from a dead stop and i'm tired of it. the accel. graph looks like **** because of the tqm i'm sure and i know the power is there to make it move much quicker from a hit, its just the tqm. i've tried to change it some but i don't want to change the wrong things or hurt anything due to lack of understanding.

Sounds like abuse mode. It's a simple enable/disable under Torque Management tab in the Transmission settings.
Also watch out for burst knock - it'll yank out timing when you stab the throttle as well. It's under Engine / Spark Control / Spark Retard. Look at the Burst Knock Enable Delta Cyl Air. Multiply the whole thing by 2 or 3 to start...

Yes, there are those two different ways GM tries to protect their weak *** transmissions. Abuse mode covers the quick stabs of the throttle and the other is % reduction on shifts. Bastards.

Yup. This is how I understand it. Abuse mode is there to prevent you from stalling up the converter and doing pesky things like burnouts and such. TM does the same but for shifts only.
And burst knock is the computer predicting that the engine *might* be about to knock because you just made a big airflow change. By standing on it or maybe during shifts. It's way aggressive in stock form. I just checked my current tune and I must have gotten tired of messing with it - I'm currently set to 20X the stock value in this table...

what table is that Jerry? I'm going to disable abuse mode and see what it feels like. the truck is probalby ~320rwhp right now and it feels like a 91 civic at the stab. once its moving its a beast, however i want it to feel like that from the hit.

OK, I disabled Abuse Mode, went to the same location for a full stop WOT blast and usually it bogs at the hit then hooks up and hauls ***. I changed the Abuse Mode and leaned it out a tad up high. Now, at the hit, all things being the same (even air conditions and wind pretty much) it hooks for about a second then blows the tires off and I had to peddle it in and out. I didn't think it would make that much of a noticeable change (seems nothing else makes huge sotp feeling changes) as this did. The shifts are WAY to hard now for my stock transmission so I'm going to have to turn it back on until the performabuilt trans and yank are installed but I can tell this is one of the things I've been needing to do to get the thing running better.

hey klive, what do you drive? im waiting for hptuners to get here, and i want to achieve similar results as you when i get into it. ive heard that it's hard with these new trucks though....

its not hard at all with the truck... with the right mods its very easy. The truck runs very good (for 4k+ pounds) and now even with just a little tuning its even better. Tuning is the biggest issue from what I've seen from the factory.
