In HPTuners you can't see Grams/Cyl any other way than by deriving it from the MAF??

not sure what he meant. I haven't had my MAF plugged in for about 2 months, I see grams/cy. How else would your spark table work?

You can pull the sensor out of the maf with a pair of needle nose pliers. Then just drill a small hole and install the sensor wherever you want. I put mine just infront of my TB so that it would read the temp after my meth injection. I have an aluminum tube, so I used JB Weld. It isn't the neatest way, but it worked pretty well.
I just cut the two wires from the MAF harness and spliced on a earlier model IAT sensor harness from NAPA and plugged it into the new IAT sensor.

I'll have to look it up but if you want to know which 2 wires it is let me know and I'll look it up.

Why unplug it? Just turn it off with HPT. Just go into "engine diagnostics" and set your MAF Fail freq. to 0 and turn off code P0103.

You'll still get the air flow in your logs and IAT readings will still go to the VCM (incase of high IAT, it will retard timing) but the computer won't recoginize the MAF. Did that make since?

I just got the SD tune from Campbell Automotive and am about to really test it on a long trip hauling my trailer. My question is if I remove the MAF will I need to get my tune redone a bit? I guess it depends on the tune?

Thanks

Im Pro SD myslef for my own reasons. But I also think a properly tuned MAF setup is just as good on a mild setup and is not a restrication. Not sure what you found but I'm glad its working for ya . I am running my IAT sensor in where my EGR used to be in the Intake with good results for hot restarts, but its still work in progress.

OK....here's the answers

dc_justin: see my response to dewmanshu below...

dewmanshu: Tell me how to set the histograms in HPT to read a table that references a sensor that isn't there anymore and I'll gladly fix it (I'm being serious here, NOT sarcastic)....HOW is g/cyl derived if not from the MAF ??

KY_BOB: It's pins A&B in the MAF harness....and I already have an IAT sensor on order

EVERY histogram in HPTuners that references g/cyl will only show one line of data instead of filling in the whole table...if someone can tell me how to fix it I'll galdly do so

I've already got the MAF disabled....I removed it to remove the restriction that it causes in the intake tract

1slowsilverado: Yeah...that's where mine is going too

Without knowing exactly how it is positioned and worded in HPT, each OS has at least one PID dedicated to airmass per cylinder. Mine has 2, one of the 2006's I tuned seemed to only have one. One for the Airmass value used for fuel and spark calculations and such, and another that is defined as the airmass per cylinder - Speed Density. In EFILive, the "raw" PID name for these two (on my 2003) are: GM.CYLAIR_DMA and GM.DYNCYLAIR_DMA.

I never use the MAF derived CYLAIR for my tables, as that is not what the PCM will use for it's calculations, it uses a blend of the two below 4000 rpms in the stock calibration, MAF only above that.
