Default Idle Tuning

I'm should be receiving my EFI Live v2 today or tomorrow. How do I tune for the lowest possible idle speed, yet not have it die when I let off the throttle at low speeds? Thanks in advance for helping a EFI Live newbie. I did a full tune on my '99 Regal GS, but that was completely different than what I'm doing here. It was also with different software/hardware.

If you download the software from the EFI Live website you can get started on taking a look at what can be done and read some idle tutorials on the efi live forums or here.

You'll prob want to do RAFIG and RAFPN logging to get the airflow where it needs to be after you've adjusted the idle speed.

Finding the correct timing at idle is also key. Then adjusting the over and under idle spark tables helps. Also the above mentioned RAF process hets the airflow adjusted. But all of that also depends on having your ve and maf (if yor running on) dialed in.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I've got my Blackbear .tun file and have downloaded the software where I can look at it. Sounds like I'm probably getting the cart ahead of the horse. I'll have to do some logging and see where I am.

Is there a properties setting where I can have all values displaced in °F and MPH? I looked and didn't see those settings.

Are actually idle speeds set in Desired Idle Speeds under Idle -> General?

What parameters "catch" the idle when you let off the throttle at slow speeds?

I believe you are looking for the throttle cracker and throttle follower on that one.

Throttle Cracker Airflow in Gear at 400 is .05 to .09. At 1000 it's .11 to .13.

Throttle Cracker Airflow in P/N and Decay Rate are both set to 0.00. Those 0.00 values don't seem right to me.

Throttle Cracker Decay Delay is set to 0.10.

Why don't those seem accurate? Do you understand what Throttle Craker and Throttle follower do?

Throttle Cracker and Throttle follower add airflow to keep the RPMs up. when your off the throttle and mph > 2mph... Before you go changing them you should probably go log those two PIDs to see how they work....
