If you are just getting a gauge to read your AFR's and don't need all the extra capabilities of the XD-16, I would recommend checking out Dyno Tune Nitrous (can't post a link - not a sponsor, but their site is their name all run together). They sell an LC-1 package with a digital AFR gauge for $300. That's what I bought, and it works well.
There's a lot of wires to hook up, but it's not difficult. The instructions are good. You'll have 6 or 7 wires that come from the LC-1 controller, you splice a couple together with the wires from your gauge, ground a couple together, grab a +12V power source for the O2 heater, a separate chassis ground (not shared with gauge/controller). If you don't use both analog outputs from the LC-1 you will have a couple wires left over probably. I can take some pics of my install later if you want.

Edited my above post - LC-1 controller has 7 wires. Couple grounds, couple analog outputs, an 12V input or two. The gauge has 3 or 4 wires, can't remember how many.
The gauge uses one of the two analog outputs from the controller, and you can configure the other to work with HPTuners (if you have the enhanced I/O cable) or EFILive. There is also a digital output that connects via Serial cable to a laptop or whatever, and you can use that to monitor the AFR's with Innovate's included software or you can configure the analog outputs to work with whatever you want. A basic gauge is essentially just a voltmeter - the LC-1 analog out puts out a certain voltage depending on your AFR, and you can configure it to go from 0-1, 0-5, whatever, depending on what your monitoring software/hardware needs. The thing that's nice about that DynoTune package is that it's all pre-configured to work together, and the instructions that are included tell you exactly how to wire everything.
If you are familiar with wiring things up in a vehicle you should have no problem installing this yourself.

Strictly my own opinion, not meant to bash anybody, but I'd go with the whole innovative set-up. I have a gauge from the same company, and it doesn't seem to work properly, no matter how I configure my LM-1. I'm going to go with the xd-16. Wideband is a wise idea, my friend!

When i did a lot of research i found out that if you use the XD-1 or the new XD-16 the signal is digital with there cable and with the other after market gauges its analog with the wire hook up. Innovate said digital is the best for accuracy and only recommends digital for accuracy with AFR.

just ordered my wideband setup 5min's ago. I ended up going with the Innovate XD-16 w/ LC1. got it on ebay for $399 shipped from Full Throttle Speed. They advertise they are an authorized reseller and have 100% positive feedback. we'll see....
