Default Just started playing with my Hypertech

What are some of the specs you guys are running? IE shift points, rev limiter, and stuff. Im wondering what would be the ideal setup.

Default please take no offense

No offense dude, but sell the Hypertech and look through our Sponsors like NelsonPerformance. Wait4Me Performance and so on......find one you like (I reccomend Nelson performance).....and get a mail order tune, unless you can go and get a dyno-live tune......you will get more power and more options for the same money you spend for a handheld......trust me I've owne Hypertech's all the way to DiabloSports........none are even close to a Custom Tune.......all they are are expensive Code Readers now!

I never understood why people dislike handheld programmers so much. I would be interested to know if these people ever tried a programmer and used its best settings, like using 93 octane tune instead of 87 tune, etc. I wouldn't pay the $400 price for a handheld programmer though. Anyways, the setup I have on my truck is: 93 octane tune, speed limiter at 128, rev limiter at 6000, 1-2 shift at +3, 2-3 shift at +8, 3-4 shift at +0, and firmer shifts. I'm satisfied with this setup. My shift points and rev limiter are actually mild compared to other people I've seen. A lot of people like to set their rev limiter at 6200 and set their shift points higher than I did. My truck isn't a race vehicle so I wanted to keep it a little more conservative.

Like I said dog, no offense, but yeah.....I owned a Hypertech III, when I installed it on my 01 Silverado I felt really no diffrence except for the top speed govenor was off......then I returned it to stock, bought a new truck and guess what......it won't work on a 02. So, after a Diablosport on the 02 for awhile...which was considerably better than the Hyper III, I crashed out the 02 and got an 03 GMC.....got a Nelson Tune.....drove it...made some mods....got a free re-tune....and guess what.....I love it! So many more varables can me customized by Pro-Tuners like Allen. And if I want a scan tool.......I'll stick with my OTC Genysis instead of a "handheld" programmer.
