Lq4 no power in 1500-2500rpm range
Did a cam install for low end torque, and no power unless wot. Pulls strong @ wot but cruising sucks bigtime! Stock cam cruised nice, just wanted more torque in 1500 - 2500 rpm range. Scanner readings are: 5794 rpm 02 b1 = .890, B2 = .911, coolant temp = 196, IAT = 73, Spark adv = 29*, KR = 0* all readings seem good thru out rpm range and injector ms = 77% at its highest. dont know what the problem can be! Can someone help me with this problem?

the .006 numbers give a more accurate picture.
If Im off here someone jump in but this cam doesnt make any sense with the 4 degrees advance then the lift specs. What did you tell him you wanted? Is he familiar with lsx heads?

I wanted a cam for highway driving 80 mph @ 2100 rpm and have alot of torque in the 1500 - 5500 rpm range , particulatly 80 mph 2100 . But yet when I tow my 6000 lb trailer i'll have plenty of pulling power. The old 5.3 would not maintain 70-75 mph while in 3rd gear towing, i would lose speed on the northeast highways. Then it would downshift to second and the tach would be at 5000 rpms for the duration. My wife and kids would wonder when the engine was going to blow! I said no problem! So I install LQ4, and a cam swap, now my problems begin. i want about 400 - 450 horsepower when i'm done 450 lbs torque also. I dont care about spinning past 6000 rpms. also put in PSI .625 springs and comp pushrods. Heads coming off and are going to be milled .035 - .045 for 1 point more compression. And installing Dynatech headers and front pipes. But Ineed to solve this cam / tune problem 1st. Cam guy said it's the tune and Nelson said tune Is alright for that cam. I got a bunch of pcm readings today and calling Allen in the am. Recomend a cam for me please. Custom or company? I need the right combo.

I would go with the VHP 210/218 I think that cam would work well from what your telling me. There was a guy on here that ran that cam with some afr205 heads on a 6.0 and made great power down low.
Also if you dont have 3:73 gears or bigger Id get em. Maybe someone else will jump in who tows with a cam, I assume you realize that you will have to run 93 all the time.
Might consider thorley headers I like mine, good for mid-low ranges and they are cheap.
Valve job is worth the money
