Default LTFT's still off.....

How many logging runs does it usually take to get the LTFT's in line?

I've made 4 runs so far, and my LTFT's are still off. The first run indicated the truck was running rich, all runs after have been running lean. The latest run was still showing numbers around +10. Granted, today's run was in 25-deg cooler temps, which I know has an effect.

Just wondering what the average number of runs it usually took.

I've also kept the MAF plugged in so I don't get the IAT error (P0113?), but the MAF Failure is set to 0 Mhz.

I've seen conflicting info on this part. When I do a logging run, I do reset the fuel trims, and turn on trim learning. Is this correct?

Are you using a WB sensor or just going off the fuel trims?
When I tried using the fuel trims the first time, it took me multiple multiple times to get it nowhere close.
Then I got a LC1 and it took like 1/3 of the time before and now my LTFTs are pretty close.

You have headers or anything?

Try unplugging the MAF, deal with the SES light, it's nothing that can't be turned off once the MAf gets plugged back in.

You have to reset trims everytime you make changes to the maf or the ve table, otherwise it takes forever for you to get ltft's learned correctly if they are still enabled. If you are getting trims of +10 that means you are very lean and its adding 10 percent more fuel!!

I like disabling the ltft's and using the stft to tune the ve table it can be done in an hour, then re enable the MAF and tweak it.

If your ltft's are disabled and you are still getting a value in the histogram it means you didnt reset the trims and the computer is remembering an older value that doesnt necesarily correspond to the ve or maf table you are curretnly using.

After rechecking everything, with the MAF plugged in and having the MAF fail frequency set to 0-Mhz, it was not throwing the P0102 code, only the P0103.

With the MAF unplugged, it is now throwing P0102, P0103, and P0113. I've set all of those to condition 2 (No Mil Lite).

I got a chance to do a logging run afterwards, and it did start giving me different trim values. To play it safe, based upon the log with the MAF plugged in, I adjusted the VE using half the trim value indicated. I normally use an average of the LTFT and STFT.

Hopefully now, it won't take as long. I'm guessing 1 to 2 more runs, and then the VE should pretty much be set, then I can start work on tuning the MAF and PE.

Thanks for the info.....
