Is mileage stored on PCM?
I changed out gauge clusters and my tranny went out at 98,000 miles. My new cluster only reads 53,000 though so the dealer said the warranty won't cover it. Can they find the actual mileage stored in the PCM?

Correct, its stored in the cluster only. But at the same time, unless you put the sticker on the door with the old mileage, i would keep quiet about that. Its odometer fraud which is a felony. Sure nobody here is going to say much, just don't go telling all your buddies!

Why would you put a new cluster in without reflashing it to reflect your mileage is what I'd like to know? That's very illegal.
Pretty sure your SOL on the warranty. Only certain people can reflash it and the dealer is going to need documentation from them of a legitimate change of mileage.

I believe it's stored in either the BCM or the ECU along with the cluster . I personally own a GM Tech2 scanner and when I read the Millage it shows the Vehicals milage through either the BCM or the ECU. On my own personal truck It shows a difference of 75 miles between the cluster and what the scanner reads. I did buy it pre owned and factory certifed used. There is no record of it being tampered with. I don't have access to the GM records system but it is possible they modified it before it was originally sold.

It's not in the PCM or BCM or the dealer would have to flash these values in to them, when replacing them, and there is nothing in the replacement proceedure to to tell them how to do it. The only place it could possiblty be stored is the SIR module and even if its in there, I doubt it could be used to verify actual mileage
