Moving the IAT sensor

Moving the IAT sensor
Not sure if this is the right place for this question but...........
I have heard about people moving the IAT sensor to the discharge side of the supercharger to read the "real" inlet temp. The question is....besides reading the inlet air temp, what does that little nub do for the running of the engine? Is it tied to the PCM for any kind of tuning changes or is it just a null monitor point? Yeah, it would be nice to know what temp my SC is discharging but untill I get an intercooler figured out...why, I know it's hot!
Just checking before I go to all the trouble to move it and find out I didn't need to.
Any info would be great!
Thanks.

Hey 04ChargedSS,
I'll be doing this change to an 04 5.3L whippled truck in the next month or two. Can do it to yours as well for you, so long as you have the part
Also, there's going to be a meet in Elk Grove next weekend. You should come on out.

Yea, it is tied to the PCM and has lots to do with how the truck runs. It relates back to timing and fuel tables amongst several others.

I moved mine to the discharge of the Vortech and before my meth spray... Yes, it impacts tuning in a big way.... the tune starts pulling timing above 120* and the discharge temps of my blower are around 135* on cool days...I run an non-intercooled 12 psi, so I had to move mine..... The meth does it's job though so in almost every case but an extremely hot day, I can retain all my timing......
