Default NBS 1999-2002 vs 2003-2007

My wife and I are looking to trade in my RCSB for a NBS Crew Cab or Yukon becouse of our soon to be child and dog.

I read somewhere probily here that the 2003's have a better computer for performance mods and tuning. Is this true?

Are the 99's-02's worth staying away from since I can get a high mileage 03-07 cheap enough?

I don't plan to go crazy with any build becouse I live in Cali an smog laws are a bitch, but my performance plans will be pretty basic either way. I will do the bolt-ons no matter what, and if the motor gives go bigger. One way or another.

Thanks for the advice.

i know from my experience that the 07 classic computer sucks! i was told it has a bunch of crap on it so im not able to do any real time tuning. there is also,no custom os support through hp tuners (dont know bout efi live). as far as the computer goes i would pick from 02-05. 02 isnt a bad year at all and it just depends if you want electronic throttle or cable driven.

Cool I see plenty of 2001-2002's really cheap, but I do find a few high mileage 05's-06's out there now that have the Factorys electric fans for not much more.

How do the 06's measure up? There is no classic model with the Tahoe Yukon, but does the 06-07 truck have the real time tuning problem your talking about?

Either way I am taking my time as I will find the one I want with the package I want. Very little comprimising this time becouse I have more time then they do.

i perfer the 99-02 body style.. but thats just me.. id stay away from 06 and newer, ive never had good luck with them. but for your basic boltons, you will be fine with any of them.

i have tuned a few 06s but, never tried to apply rtt. when i get home i will look to see if i can. i think after 03 they, started to use up more and more memory every year and now there is no way for rtt to piggy back with the pcm.
