I didn't know anything about it but I'm learning it little by little. It's scary the first couple times but it gets better. Just ask questions and someone will help you.

i have a mail order nelson tune, still on my first one and my truck runs pretty good. however a dyno tune would be the best to tweak everything out...

The best tune is a live street tune! Period. The Dyno tune gets closer than a mail order tune, but the dyno tune still leaves out wind resistance and the actual resistance a particular vehicle's weight creates. Which are all big factors left out of the tune.
I had a live Nelson tune done out on the streets. Even Allen himself will tell you it's a better tune than a dyno tune.

Wasn't there someone on this board who recently complained of the Futral tune? They said Futral didn't spend much time working with the tune and it only yielded like 10HP. I don't have either tune so I'm really not to speak. I got sick of mail order tunes (from wait4me) and so I bought HP Tuners myself.

I think a dyno tune would be better than a mail order tune..... IF ..... if the dyno tuner does good tunes. IF! Otherwise, not knowing the tuner, I'd trust Allen Nelson who has, as far as I know, an unblemished reputation (unblemished except for being a bit hard to get ahold of).

Getting a tune while on the road with a laptop would be my choice.

Dyno tune or road tune all the way. I have a mail order tune with a 6l swap and a similar sized cam, its OK, but I have a lot of cam surge when I come to a stop, and a lot of KR. I have HPtuners now, but havent had a chance to really play with it.

Make the drive to nelson's. I got a dyno tune and street tune at the same time. Can't get better than that.

i think these guys are right, dyno tune 1st if you can and if the dyno tuner is good thats prob your best bet, i have to say i love my nelson tune but i have had a couple of retunes till we got it right, he wont stop till your satisfied and he takes care of his customers and will retune a pcm for you whenever you need it for life. i would like to fine tune mine on a dyno but dont have one close that im aware of, but im getting an interceptor scan gauge that will let me tell the values to nelson so i can fine tune it that way. good luck with your choice!
