what trans are you running? and what trans was on the lq9 your torque converter might not be turning the pump on your trans 60;s and 80's use different converters and some need a spacer

A 5.3L and LQ9 6.0L both use 4L60E based transmission.

If it was an LQ4 from a 2001- up it would have been in front of a 4L80E and would not fit with out removing the spacer between the fly wheel. 99-00 had a longer crank and won't work on the 4l60e transmission. The converters are also different.

Most likely the converter was not seated properly and you damaged the pump by breaking the rotor inside the pump. with a damaged rotor in the pump you can't make any pressure. It's a fairly common mistake on first time engine swaps. Have even seen a veteran do it a time or two when in a hurry.

The new engine is a lq9 and I think what you said is what happened because when we swapped it it felt to seat fine and when it's on ( the engine) I could see the tc spin ... And just a slight very very slight maybe like grindding nois

LQ9 had a 4L65E,either converter ,the 5.3 4L60E converter or the LQ9 converter will interchange
I am guessing you didnt get the converter all the way in,and damaged the the pump and gears

still have the 65E? i would rather have that, find a honest tranny guy to swap shafts and add a vette servo for cheap

actually you would want a 65e 4x4 output shaft, its better than the 60E
