No Oil Pressure after collision, HELP please!
#11
could the neck of the oil pickup tube possibly have bent? The pump is actually brand new less than 5k miles ago and had been running great. I'll have to check the bypass soon

I'll be removing the oil pump this weekend to inspect the pressure relief valve for sticking. once i find this is the issue, hopefully, do i just release the valve so it closes then install the same pump? or should I put a new pump in to be safe?

got oil pressure back!! before i tore down anything, my buddy suggested tapping on the front timing cover, on the bottom right where the pressure relief valve to the oil pump would be, with a rubber mallet. sure enough i gained all pressure back, it unstuck the bypass!

If it stuck one time there had to be something in it or wedged to make it stick.
Understand?
Maybe it was just the impact, but a new oil pump is alot cheaper than rebuilding the engine if it decides to stick again.
