Default Oops, My truck has a 93 octane tune on it and GF filled it up with 89.

I know I told her if she ever put gasin it to use 93 ONLY. I know I told her at least 3 times. Nontheless, I let her borrow it yesterday, and she said she put some gas in it for me. I said what octane? She said 89. Well ****, females.

Anyhow, its an 06' with the 5.3, and a Nelson 93 tune. I assume that I shouldnt flog on it, and I would imagine it to detonate in the higher RPMs.
But will I be doing any damage by running this tank out? Its about half full right now, and I was gonna go top it off with 93 to bring it up as much as I could. From what I understand, the computer will automaticly retard the timing with the 89. Will everything regarding my tune be Ok once I get 93 back in it??

I let my GF borrow my truck a couple of times. Once she filled it up with gas, and I asked her what grade she used and she said 93. I was like wow, i never even told her what grade to use. So in return, I took her to a nice resturant to say thanks...

Go ahead and fill it up with 93. It won't hurt anything. If it knocks the pcm will use the knock learn factor to reduse the timing into the low octain table. You will be fine.

Will the PCM return to its original state once 93 is used again?? What im asking, I guess, Will performace suffer because it retarded the timing? And will it return to normal once I get 93 back in it?

Yes, the ECM will slowly start adding timing back in if no futher knock is detected. After about 100 miles or so, it will be back to the High Octane Table. This is one reason why I always leave the Low Octane Table stock, as do most reputable tuners. You will be fine ... heck if anything, add a gallon or two of unleaded 100 octane. That will put you back to 93. Depending on how much 89 is left.

Yes, once no knock is seen for a short period of time it will gradually return to the high octane table. Your performance will be the same as before. No long term affects.

My roommate did that the other day with his trans am. He was running 28 degrees timing and put in 87. We was logging it and he was getting knock. Goshawk and I was completely at awe as to why, until he finally let us know he was using crap gas. Could have smacked his *** for that ****, because he knew better

Hey, I got my tune from Nelson today, It says its for 93 octane, All we can get out here is 91 which I always use. Will this make any difference??? We are at 5000 + ft. here in colorado so I'd think The lower octane fuel would be fine???
