OS update without removing/overwriting tune ??

Did you swap over your setting to the "new" OS file? I have done many OS updates and have not had a single problem like this, no crank relearn, no eliminating VATS.

happened to me once, i dont know why but i just kept messing with the key, on off, on off, vats relink after each on off and it started up after about 3?? times of trying.

12secSS: other than the different OS's everything is identical between the two.

I assume I have to use the VIN off the '00 .bin right ??

You can do a manual relearn with the key trick on/off ten min's 3 times and it will start.
But for some reason if you Do a rewrite of an 02 over an 01 pcm it wont start buy just doing a relink with hpt, dont work?? So either just turn it off under system or do the relearn manualy with the key...
