From what I can tell its the original 4.8 that came with the truck. It is a DBW, although not sure how that has an effect on things. I was doing some thinking last night, and wonder if it may be the tune causing this, as I never had any problems before putting it in. After installing it the check engine light was on after about five minutes of driving. I emailed my tuner to see if that could be potentially the cause, still awaiting reply.

I was asking about the DBW because that is what came in those trucks. Was trying to see if someone swapped the motor or possibly went with and older system. The o2's were different through out the years and was eliminating the possibly the incorrect o2 sensors. The older style were self grounded and the newer ones ground through the PCM. Did you send your original computer to your tuner as a core? If so, what is the service number on your PCM?

Got ya. Unfortunately I did send the original computer in, so I can't swap them out and test things that way. Where do I find the service number on the PCM? Also, bringing it in Friday to get some diag work done with a real scan tool instead of just a code reader, that way I can see just what kind of values the o2's are putting out.

well the service number is on the top face of the computer itself. before you take it in, i would recommend you figure that out first. they will probablly end up charging a crap ton of hours trying to figure out if you have an incorrect ecm. is nelson still your tuner? If you dont mind me asking?

Yeah Nelson is still doing my tunes. Ill try and grab that number today off the ecm. Wish I was still back in Manhattan so I could have access to a scan tool for free. It would make life much simpler.

Has Nelson written you back yet about the PCM?

I gave them a call yesterday to try and expedite things. Pretty much they said I needed to have the sensor reading checked before they do anything, that way it will be for sure if I have bad wiring or bad sensors, or if the tune is the issue.

Went and looked at the pcm, only numbers I could find was an 820 cast in the housing, otherwise there were no markings I could see without pulling it out and giving it a better look over.

Do you know how to read the wires out, check continuity from the sensors to the PCM?

I've never done it before, but I have seen it done and could probably easily figure it out. I'll just have to find someone here at school with a good meter I can borrow and start probing around.
