Default PCM lock out?

I've played with tuning my obd1 Z28. Was reading some info on tuning programs for my 04 Silverado. Read a thread about PCM being locked out if the vehicle was already tuned at a shop so no one can take that tune and send it to someone else.

My truck has a 6liter swap with Jakebrown Brownspeed.com/Tunedbyjake.com tune before I bought it. Problem is the site is down and I dont know much info on the tune other than egr and rear o2 delete.

So I have 2 concerns.
1. If I get EFI Live or HP Tuners can I flash over my pcm or take it to another shop for a new tune without any problems?

2. I have a TSP 228R to install but scared to run it without an updated tune cause Im not 100% sure the truck is going into closed loop. Tech2 at the dealership when I worked there showed it was in open loop after running a good while.

I was just talking to Jake 15 minutes ago, I am sure he can take care of it if you notify him, at least for him to unlock the pcm. It is rather strange that he put the truck on open loop as well. And no if the truck's pcm is locked the only way to mess with the file is to get another pcm and start from scratch!

Thanks for the reply. Im not 100% sure its stuck in open loop all the time. My friend bought the truck few months ago and I drove it around a week to make sure eveything seemed fine and thats what the Tech2 was showing at the time. I bought the truck from him about a month ago and I need to run by the dealer and check it out again to be sure.

Is he still tuning. Might just get him to retune it after the cam swap.

he is still tuning but casually, you might convince him to retune since it is locked by him to begin with.
