sure, this all makes sense, the maf takes over after 4K rpm. It plays a large part of calculations up to that rpm, so the more load the worse your fueling and misfire. Have you done anything recently, mods, changed air filter, hit your intake with a hammer ?

Nah I havent done anything to the truck. It has a catback on it, thats it for performance mods and the catback has been on for over 10,000 miles so. All the happened was about a day or so after I filled up I was getting onto a highway on an inclinded onramp and bam, engine loses some power and check engine light flashes, since then its just gotten worse.

Good call, that could cause both the code and misfire as well...

Check your cats. I had a 2001 Grand Prix that did the same thing with the misfire codes above 4000 rpm. Replaced the cat and everything was fine again.

Oh damn, never even thought of that. any way for me to tell? If I brought it to a place would they be able to tell by emissions that the cats are bad?

They are probably real close to being plugged. One way to check would be to measure the pressure before and after the cat. If it is much higher before, it's probably plugged.

Since you are so close to being stock, I'd take it to the dealer. There is a federal 80,000 mile warranty on cats.

OK guys I got the truck checked this mornin, needed plug wires and an ignition coil, the shop wanted 670 to do the job, needless to say I took the truck back, paid them 100 for the dioagnostic test and then bought all the parts for $130.

The question is, the sheet says coil pack #1. Looking at the front of the motor, which one is that? also, what are the torque specs on the plugs?

Thanks for the help

Checked the intake gaskets/TB gasket?

Also check the injector connections. Make sure the studs on the injector are making good contact with the actual injector wiring harness.
BTW, coil #1 is the drivers side, closes to the radiator.
