Default question about dyno sheet and shift points??

I have a friend that just installed a 220/220 .581/.581 115LSA in his truck, his other mods is dual flowmaster exhaust with stock cats and manifolds and his has a g80 with 3.23's & a 2500 stall, a real good reputable shop did his dyno tune (3rd gear pull)... here is what gets me... his truck showed 305rwhp on the dyno, I havent seen his dyno sheet but he says the truck is still pulling past 6500rpm, but his shift points are at 6100--6200rpm??? this doesnt sound right, does it?? I would think he should be shifting way over 6100/6200, right?? I really dont think that tuner is doing it right?? I dont know **** about tuning but I know I have the same cam and Im shifting 01-2 @ 6700...

by the way his next mods are some 3.73's and some LT's...

He obviously isn't going to go quicker/faster by shifting before peak HP. I don't understand what 'still pulling' represents but, if he means that HP has flat lined or in other words, has not dropped off, this is very possible. If this is the case, he should definetly be shifting somewhere in this 'FLAT' zone. Experimenting will give him his quickest ET or fastest MPH.

I'd have a hard time believing that HP is climbing past 6000RPM with our intake manifold.... However, a cam this size on a wide LSA is guaranteed to hold the HP curve way past peak.

Tell him to post the dyno.

The dyno is a great tool and has lots of info. The butt dyno works the best for me. I start a little hi, Then hit the marker button during my logs when I feel it should shift, look at the logs and fine tune from there. Most of the cams I see are tight 112-114lsa and shift points are under 6k... JMO
