Default replacing ignition lock cylinder 2003 passlock relearn?

hello all, Im going to be replacing a ignition cylinder lock on a 2003 chevy silverado. Im just replacing the cylinder not the ignition switch. I have a replacement lock and set of keys from oreillys. Ive never done this on a later model truck. I know it should be pretty straightforward (take column cover off, turn key forward, push pin in and release cylinder from housing. ) Is the security system gonna give me fits? Its my friends truck and I dont want to leave it stranded at my house.

thanks

If you do it correctly you should not have any problems.

On My 2000 there is a little pin switch that sticks down. It has to be removed by releasing the tab and twisting it sideways. Other wise I could not get the new cylinder back in. Sorry, I don't have any pictures.

Make sure you get all the screws on the cover to remove the upper half. There was separate screw that was hard to see that I missed after removing the lower cover.

Take the old cylinder apart and remove 1 tumbler at a time to get the key code. Write each number down in sequence as you do it.
