You can't over spin a turbo leaving the cold side off... Without boost feeding the motor, you will never generate enough exhaust to spin it as fast as it will be spinning when every thing is hooked up and making boost.

The old "it will over spin if not hook up" Is just an old wives' tale. You've got to have air to make air! Why do you think a turbo doesn't explode when a coupler blows off during a run? Just goes POOFF and lets all the pressure out and the turbo spools down with out the exhaust to spin it.

Be careful with that..... Justin also told my buddy when he pullied down his TVS 1900 on his 5.3 truck that the tune would be fine and he wouldn't need any datalogs or to retune...... went from like a 3.4" to a 2.9"..... yeah no, it was anything but fine and lost a headgasket as a result. It had a BBP tune previously obvious that I always felt never ran correctly and was way too lean... yep it was. I wouldn't let that guy tune my wheelbarrow..... Tune yourself or find a decent more localish guy..... if you have to haul the truck a couple hours to get it tuned that will be cheaper than slapping engines in here and there.....

Not to mention his one word replies he sends at a frequency of about once a week get really old really fast. Stock trucks or stock with like a cold air and a catback he can probably handle...... beyond that.... good luck.
