Default Service Airbag light???????

Left work yesterday and had a "service airbag" message and the airbag light was on. Got home and checked it with my AutoCal but no codes came up. Disconnected battery for a bit and re-connected it and message was still there. This morning when I was leaving for work, it was gone! Any ideas?????? I definately dont want to deal with the dealer if i dont have to...

2 common problems for that truck.

1 is front impact sensors located on bottom of core support.

2nd is the sensing diagnostic module (SRS module)

You will need to have somebody get a good code out of it to know where to start.

SDM's seem more common the salty states from my experience. Sensors are about 150.00 ea. at the dealer. They are avail. from Dorman. Crappy china parts, but with a lifetime warranty. And about 30-40 cheaper. SDM is a dealer part and requires programming from tech-2 or equiv.

Get a good code and ill walk you through the proper diagnostics to verify what part is failing.

What are you trying to read the code with??? The SRS air bag system is separate from engine and transmission. Not all code readers are designed to pick up trouble codes from other modules.

You need something that is capable of reading codes from all module's. Like the factory GM Tech 2 or a Snap On scanner. There are some lower end Scan tools that are more affordable in the $100-$300 range that also have that capability like Autoenginuity, Autel, Maxdiag, OTC

With out a code, Your not going to know were to look. You can replace all the sensors you want. The problem may be within the wiring/connection or the module it self.
