Default Shift points

Wasnt sure if it should go here or in Drivetrain...

I was wondering what is a good speed for your shifts to be at? I know when I had my Hypertech I had all Shifts at 5600 1-2 was around 50mph 2-3 was around 90mph and 3-4 well... . Anyway a buddy of mine said his 2-3 shifts at around 70mph that is WITH his tune on pretty much stock tire height. (little smaller) His 1-2 shift is good and strong right about 6000 but the 2-3 SUCKS and feels like the truck just gives up!

So since I am getting a tune soon I was wondering my my 99 should shift at what everyone else's is doing.

Oh yeah his truck is a 2002 w/5.3

I would say that 5600-5700 would be about right. What tune are you planning on getting?

I think mine was shifting around 6200 or so. It still hit the rev limiter at 6500 very rarely though.

With Your Mods I Would Say That 5800 Would Be The Most I Would Go To On Both Shifts. Cuz I Dont Think You Have A Good Enough Exhaust To Rev Any Higher And Actually Gain Any. And This Is From My Personal Experiences. Until I Got The Asm Longtubes And True Duals It Just Didnt Pull That Good Past 5700 Or 5800.

i got all my 4.8 shift points at 6200 and it pulls hard all the way to it. i wouldn't worry to much about the shift speeds though becouse it has to hit both point to shift so just set speeds as they are stock and just raise the shift rpm. snake eater and myself tried messing with the shift speeds and it just sucked all the way around so i put them to stock and just raise the shift rpm.

i do need to note that before the heads the thing fell on its face around 5800 rpm but after the head and spring swap and a little better tune it pulls hard all the way up.
