Default Smart HP Tuners Inside!

I have the old style HP Tuners that i got with my truck

It is VCM Suite enhanced I/O v2.0

I dont know what this is but it has the serial port and my lab top only does usb so wanted to know if i should get the newer edition or just go to a computer software store and get the usb to serial port converter.

Is there anything differant with the newer edition software for HP Tuners that would be worth saving up to purchase or will mine do all that the new one does. If not what will this old one be missing that the new one has.

Thanks
Zach

I believe the newer versions are for MPVI (USB) users only, and there is quite a bit of difference between your version and 2.1.18. I would contact HPT or hopefully foff or Magnus will chime in here.

If it were me, I would see if you could buy or exchange your current serial version for a MPVI Pro cable so you can do wideband tuning.

I would get the upgraded cable but as long as you have EIO then there shouldnt be a big difference.

I have a keyspan serial adapter and works very well and has never failed. Knock on wood.

As long as you have EIO inputs, yes you can.

ask these questions on the hptuners.com forum. There appears to be some misinformation
