Default Syclone PCM update

If I took a 12200411 PCM loaded with the LS1 operating system and changed the number of cylinders switch to 6 from 8, what would happen? Would it only operate the first 6 injectors and coil packs? How many pulses from the crank sensor would the PCM expect, the normal 24 or only 18 since 25% of the cylinders are missing. I should be able to supply the cam and crank pulses with a dual sync distributer. I know I could load trhe PCM with a vortec 4.3 operating system and get it to run my 6 cylinder, but i'd like to also run the coil packs. Also can the MAP table be expanded out to support a 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor with out buying a custom operating system. I'd be happy with a 2 bar, but would like to run a 3 bar. My application for this is to convert my Syclone over to a newer PCM. I'm using Tunercat so if I upgraded the OS to a custom one, I don't think I could edit it with tunercat any longer. Any input is welcome

EHH I dunno most of that. I do know efilive offers free COS, custom operating system, upgrades for free, as well as 2 or 3 bar upgrades.

KBracing, user name, Sells efilive as well.....

What about a LY7 or LZ4 pcm and bin file. both are v6 with coil packs...hmmm But I think they also use can bus so that would be VERY hard to run.....
What other gm v6 engines are there that run coil packs???.... How about the LX9? came out in 04, DBW, no VVT....

I would think it would be easier to start with one of the many 6 cylinder platform PCMs.... I'm not sure what pcm's tunercat will support, but I know HPTuners and EFI Live offer support for almost all of them

One of the reasons I want to use the 12200411 is I have a RoadRunner PCM, that allows live changes. TunerCat does not support anything CAN bussed. EfiLive does support the RoadRunner PCM, but HPTuners doen't. So if I have to change programming enviorments, I'm most likely have to go with EfiLive

Another option would be Mega squirt... Then you could build it the way you want..
But if you already have a RoadRunner....

I have always wondered about flashing completely different op in a pcm, I know some have flashed a 01-02 truck op, in a the 99-00 truck pcm, I have also flashed a 04 op in a 05 truck...

Same here, I've been pondering the idea of downloading the factory software from GM TIS for the 5.3L Silverado's and then doing the 4.3 to 5.3 swap on my S10 using truck accessories and the flashed PCM.

OP, are you converting the dist. to coil packs? That's what it sounded like to me at least. Maybe try giving the guys at www.wait4meperformance.com a call?

I'm hoping to run a single coil for each plug. I have already put a feeler out to one of the tuners, but was hoping somebody knows somebody who has tried this. I know I can use the 12200411 PCM, since it came in the later Astro vans and the S10's, but they used a distributor and I want to try to eliminate it. Even the faster 1 meg memory 12586246 PCM came with the 4.3 vortec in some of the Astro vans, I think they had already stopped producing S10's before that switch happened, if not that might have even came with them, but they didn't use a coil on each plug either.

PS If anybody wants to give some input, but doesn't want to post on the public forum, my email is availiable in my profile. I'd prefer post here since then everybody get the use of it, but even I feel sometimes, it is better to take it offline
