Default TCC modes - what do they mean?

I have my TCC mode as one of the data values that I log, and I have seen a few values that I'm not too sure what they mean. I have seen:

App
AppEn
Coast
Lock
Off

I know what Lock and Off mean - what is the difference between all the others?

the "App" must be apply, I'm unsure of "AppEn" - maybe "apply enable"

but this is off the top of my head with limited converter tuning experience using HP Tuners

I'm just wondering what the difference between Apply, Apply Enable, Lock, Coast, and Off are. What is physically happening to the TCC solenoid and lockup clutch in the different modes?

Status parameter {GM.TCCMODE}

TCC Mode
(Enumerated PID)

Value Caption Description
0 Off TCC Off
1 Rel TCC Releasing
2 App TCC Applying
3 AppEn TCC Apply Enabled
4 Lock TCC Locked
5 Coast TCC Coast
6 Slew TCC Slewed

Does this help, or did you find this already?

It helps a little, but still doesn't tell me what's happening to the lockup clutch. I have times when it says applying for several seconds, nothing changes to my RPM's, then it says locked and the revs drop. I can't imagine it taking more than a split second to apply the lockup solenoid and lock the converter, so I'm wondering what is physically happening inside the converter when it says applying or apply enabled.

Something to think about.

For the TCC to actually lock. both the PWM Solenoid must open. As well as the TCC Solenoid.

My guess, When its Applying, only one of the two is energized. Then when both solenoids are energized then it would be applied.

Again i'm just taking an educated guess at this. But it makes sense to me

With HPTuners I had to Wait while while the TCC apply actually locks, If you adjust the min duty cycle table up for the tcc it will lock faster. the higher the value the faster (and harder) it will apply.

I will play with the settings then, it takes a few seconds for the TCC to lock after it says apply, I counted and it was something like 5 or 6 seconds. Then when it locks the RPM's drop slowly, from the time it says lock to when it actually does is another 1-2 seconds. I would like it to lock faster and harder. Thanks for the info
