Like the title says, my gas mileage is down to a measly 6.7 mpg. My 5.3 is internally stock but i have a mac intake, electric fans,Full length headers,no cats,mac mufflers,transgo hd2,2nd and 4th billetservos,tb stall,3.73 gears and a predator tuner. I also have 24's on the truck and i know that accounts for some of it,but this sucks for it to be that low. I have a 224 cam that i want to install,but i'm afraid that the mpg will get even worse. Will a decent tune help? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

A real tune will help. Only thing you list that would suck gas are those 24" wheels and maybe a heavy right foot? Fuel filter? The 224 cam will lose you some bottom end so a higher stall torque converter would be good to go with it, but you'll lose a little more mpg around town.
What year is yor truck?

If your truck insn't tuned for longtubes and no cats then that probably has alot to do with it.

My truck is an 04ecsb. I don't know if i should just throw in the cam then get a tune or possibly try a real tune first.

I dont know how you could get mileage that low. Definitely tune for the headers and lost cats. The exhaust may have the A/F ratio running rich. Check for any obvious exhaust leaks. Make sure you haven't over oiled your air filter; clean the MAF sensor with an electrical cleaner spray if it is oily or dirty.

Does anyone know if taking the screen off of the maf will affect gas mileage? I don't know what else to try.

Don't do that, those that have descreened their MAF's have reported from little to no gains and some have had issue.
Not the solution. Have you gotten a tune yet?
