Default Tinted tail lights. Brighter replacement bulbs. LED? HID?

I was wondering what you guys were running for tail light bulbs after you tinted your tail lights?

I did some eBay searching around and came up with a few options. It's a bit more expensive than I thought it would be.

First up, has anyone ever ran projector reverse lights?

I also found these, but I really don't know anything about them.

7.5 Watt High Power Xenon White Reverse Lights 3156 3157 LED Bulbs Backup #H3

Same thing but red for the tail lights.

Red 7.5 Watt Luxeon LED Brake Tail Lights bulbs 3157 3156 Stop Break Lamps #H5

I haven't done the tail lights yet. I just don't want any trouble from cops. Are the factory bulbs bright enough?

If cops want to be they can pull you over for having any tint what so ever of lights. Reg bulb do just fine, but it is not quite as bright as no tint at all. It has to do with the color red on the rear of the vehicle.

Alright, I'll forget the tail lights then. I'd like to have bright back up lights though.

ive had blacked out taillights for over a year with no problems. i bought reverse lights from VLED to help me see backing up, but for right now kept stock taillights. only time is if the sun glares at them straight on you cant see really well but the contrast of black lights and red truck you can tell when they are on. if i were to upgrade VLED has a set of bulbs that are really bright, but id need to get a resistor setup so i eliminate hyperflash. bulb is a 9watt cree bulb they had that i dont see anymore i think they are 3156 if i remember right. they still have a 7watt cree spotlight bulb or one thats 7.5watt spotlight but has LEDs around it to take advantage on the reflectors in the housing.

for example my lights. some pics are kinda hard to see but the brightness is basically back to stock at least IMO.:

I would recommend the 11w LEDs from this page:

DX LED Ultra Lux T10 194 W5W 147 152 158 159 161 168 184 192 193 259 280 285 447 464 501 555 558 585 655 656 657 1250 1251 1252 2450 2652 2921 2825 PC 175 2886X - DistantXtremes

The high-watt singlehead CREE LED is ok if you're wanting to point light in a single direction, however using the 11w bulbs listed above will get you fill illumination using the reflector that the singlehead CREE cannot.

Also, if you want to change out your flashers with LEDs, I would recommend against resistor setups. It's much better for the blinker harness if you get an electronic flasher relay that is LED compatible. Plug-n-Play is easier than Cut-n-Splice.

I have my tails tinted VERY dark, im going to try these ****** out. Ive bought from him before, and all his leds are very bright....

Oh and using HID would be stupid, having them on and off so often would kill the bulbs very quick.
