Default torque management

I have a 2003 gmc sierra Z71 5.3 and i wanted to get a trans-go hd2 sift kit for it. I am unsure if i have torque management or not, because from what i heard if you do have TM the shift kit won't do much. How can I tell??

Yes, your truck has torque management. Get a custom tune and remove about 60% till you get your tranny fully built, then remove 100%.

If you want to help your tranny but dont want a custom tune, just install a vette servo and hold off on the HD SK until you get the TQ management decreased or removed. Not a billet servo but a vette servo.

New guy question here. What do the vette servo's do? are they expensive ? how hard are they to install?

You want to pay a pro about 1/2 HR. tops. They are a cheap part, they hold the band tighter on the drum to eliminate slippage. The servo has more surface area for fluid volume to hold stronger, this will give a firmer 1-2 shift feel and due the accumulation effect it will give a firmer 2-3 also.

I see vette servos for $15-$20

Where would you go to find one for that price? Also, are there any threads that talk about the installation? I am mechanically inclined, but have never worked on a chevy since this is my first, so I am not worried about the install. Not meaning to hijack the thread, this could be helpful to many.
