"Transmission Hot idle stop"
Had this come up on my DIC display "Transmission Hot idle stop" message. I tried to get to a safe spot to let it cool down. But, before I could so the RPM's shot up like I lost the Tranny and then the engine shut off and Now it will not start. I can turn the key but it clicks one time and resets everything like you disconect the battery. I try turning the motor by hand and it is locked up! Trans temp was 275. I've seen this problem on other fourms "Duramax" but none of them say anything about engine shutting down and not starting back up... Wasn't towing anything rpm's at 3100 at 65mph...Any ideas??

June 2012 is when I finally put the Stall in.. Installed the shift kit around april'ish 2012.... Suppose to be "Tuned" Sent Scan to TPS a month ago due to there are problems with the tune! like they have the TCC to kick in at 81mph which makes my rpm's at 3100 @ 65 mph which makes Trans run hotter.

Yes You read right on seized... and yes on check engine light it comes and goes on and off. I guess due to part of the tune is not correct..

Motor is hard to turn by hand. Do you have access to a ammeter that you can clamp over a battery cable to see if there is actually power draw present? The starter may not be running at all.
Also, pull codes and see what you have.

I don't know about the converter if it hasn't unlocked... I pulled the starter off and it checked out fine.. I even jumped terminals with a screw driver and it engages the flywheel but no crank.. Don't know on codes yet until tomorrow when my HPtuner stuff arrives.

I'm not talking about the clutches being locked. I mean the outer casing of the stall physically getting larger in size and pushing the crank forward until it trashes the thrust bearings and then causes the engine to lock up. I've seen it happen before, but generally it's caused by high horsepower applications.f
