Default Transmission Tune Help

I just picked up my transmission from the rebuilder, all I know about it is its "supposed" to be better than stock and that it has a B&M shift kit in it. Basically all he told me was to order a loose converter because its gonna shift hard. So I ordered a Yank SS3600. My question is what should I do with the pressures in the transmission? I am using SCT's software and they have a normal mode and a performance mode (the performance mode has higher pressures), but I think our trucks are like that from the factory are they not?. Any ideas or help is appriciated.

There are two shift tables that the transmission uses, Normal which is non tow/haul and performance which as far as I can tell is tow/haul only. There isn't much difference but its enough you can feel it. At one point I had copied the performance table to the normal table and I actually do run this on the 3-4 shift and 2-3 for that matter but the 1-2 was just too harsh for a stock 60E with a shift kit. I've played with a 1-2 shift pressure and have got it down to where its a nice firm nudge when it hits 2nd at all speeds. I would say get it put in and drive it and see what you think of it before you go changing anything from stock on the shift pressures. I'm not too sure I would set a 60E up to shift so hard that you need a loose converter to soften the blow but thats just me.

I know for a fact that the performance mode isn't tow/haul. I could feel a definate change when it would change and my tow/haul button hasnt worked in a long time. I just told the builder what I had and told him I wanted a very positive shift and he built just that. Another question I have is would the Corvette servo make the shift more harsh? I have used one in a stock tranny and I loved the difference it made.

If you have a built transmission/shift kit & whatever else, and it's built properly, use the stock shift pressure tables.

I'm guessing that your SCT handheld just has those 2 settings, and you can't customize anything in regards to transmission pressures?

Dont touch the pressure settings if you have a shift kit.

You better drop that pan and make sure there is still an acc. spring in the 1-2 housing. I had this kit years ago and it caused problems with to hard of shifts even with stock pressure, the results was a broken output shaft in a 3300lb car at 305 hp. since then I make sure to have some type of acc. in the 1-2 housing, I haven't had an output shaft issue or 2-4 band failure yet at 450rwhp.

The B and M kit I had told you to remove the springs and install spacers....LOL I learned the hard way and any pro 4l60e builder will tell you the same. You do not need hard 1-2 shifts to make 2nd gear last under power.

The SCT package is like HPT or EFI Live in the sense that it is a full ECM program its not just a hand held. I can do anything you can with those other 2 programs it will just take me a while longer because their language is way confusing for a beginner tuner like myself. The "performance mode" shift pressures are 3-4lbs higher than the normal mode, should i make them all the same? The guy who built the transmission does it for a living and I have had one built by him before in a different vehicle. I bought the shift kit with intentions of installing it before the nitrous system, but I got in a hurry and look where it got me lol. I just sent the shift kit with the transmission and told him i wanted very positive shifts, hopefully he knew about the spacer.
