Truck died and won't start...need help.

I'm having a VERY similar problem right now... but just with a cam'ed 5.3 in a 2002 Sierra.
Truck died suddenly just going about 25mph on a dirt road, after about a 20mi drive with no issue. Caught me off guard and I had no idea what was going on!? Would sputter but not restart.
Had to tow rest of way home. Checked code with autozone scanner and was p0336, for crankshaft position sensor. I just replaced sensor with new AC Delco unit. Plugged back in, looked at wiring and all appears good. But no difference with new crankshaft position sensor. Does not even come close to starting, just turns over amd seems to stumple and sputter a bit, just with starter cranking it.
Thought maybe needed a CASE relearn after sensor swap, but no way of performing it since first of all I can't take the truck anywhere, and second, even if I could, it wouldn't start or run for the relearn to be performed.... !?
Gotta be another problem but just NO clue what it might be?
Truck was running GREAT with not even a hiccup until this issue just arose out of nowhere.
Anyone have any ideas??? I'm stumped.... and it's killing me. I hate mystery problems.

Not yet. pretty frustrated right now, at the point where the more I look over stuff the more mad I get.
Where are the nearest grounds to the starter/crank position sensor/oil level sensor?
I have done the big 3 mod not too long ago, but didn't do anything to that area or the engine block...
Tried starting it again today, just for the hell of it. Tried beating on the bottom of the gas tank too, just to see if it would do anything. Had no effect.
But, just now trying to start it I found I could barely keep it running by pumping the gas pedal to the floor repeatedly, but it ran like complete **** and just sputtered and knocked and sounded/smelled horrible.

I'd put a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail to rule out any issue with fuel. Then if you have or can get some one with some tuning/scanning software to take a look at the map sensor....or just swap it out with a friends for testing. Bear500lt truck acted just like yours. Good luck.
