Westers GMT Tuner
http://westersgarage.eidnet.org/GMT.htm

Tunercats OBD2 No longer available to the public by itself. You can go to Moates.net and buy Tunercats OBD2 as long as you buy it with the Roadrunner Emulator. After you buy TC2, for $80 you can tune as many 1996-97 trucks as you can get your hands on.

Here is a cut and paste of vehicles supported by TC2.
OBDII Vehicle Definition Files

This table lists the vehicles currently supported by the C.A.T.S. OBDII Tuner program and the associated Vehicle Definition File. The Vehicle Definition File provides the unique tuning information for each vehicle type and the correct Vehicle Definition File must be used with the OBDII Tuner program.

Each Vehicle Definition File costs $79.95.

We are continually developing new Vehicle Definition Files for additional vehicles. If you don't see the one you need drop us an e-mail at tc@tunercat.com.

Jet Dynamic Spectrum Tuner
http://www.jetchip.com/products.asp?pid=24300
Tunercats sold the rights for the TC2 to Jet, Jet offers the DST with a VIN locked licensing system.

If you swap to the 411 PCM used in teh 2001-2002 Vortec 305/350 Express Vans you can use EFILive and HPTuners. There are a few guys who have swapped to teh 411 PCm in their 1996-2000 Vortec 305 and 350 powered trucks. The swap takes a few hours, and then you can use the most modern scan/tune/logging products on teh market. Plus no more 5800-5900 rpm rev limit that has plagued the 1996-2000 blackbox Vortec PCM's.

Here is a link that explains the 411 swap.
http://www.pacificp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3240You simply get a 411 PCM, from an Express VAn, LS1 car etc, teh 411 PCM was used in a ton of GM vehicles. Get 2 80 pin connectors. Push out teh pins of the 4 32 pin connectors that are on your truck now. Push tehse pins into teh correct orientation on the 2 80 pin connectors. Solder a few wires. Install teh new PCM. Install a defintion file from a 2001-2002 Vortec 350 poweredVan. Tune the PCM. And enjoy your GEn 3 PCM in your GEn 1E truck.

If you need any more info get a hold of me.

This site is THE site for teh 1996-2002 Vortec 350/305 engines and trucks.

digging up old bones here.
but the cost of doing all this work to the 96-97 L31trucks, couldnt or wouldnt it make more sense to do the ls1 swap 5.3 or 6.0.
what would be the pros and cons of the tune and the ram jet or the vortec marine swap?
the pros and cons to just do the ls1 swap?
i have found some stuff on the ls1 swap to my truck and it looks to be realllllly easier than the vortec marine swap.
i know this link has been posted before but i wanted to put it out there again!!!

LS1 Edit, HPTuner, TunerCat, whatever you can find that will tune LSX based PCM's.... the PCM must have the service number listed above....
