Yes your correct, I spelled it wrong. I was just letting you know they are avalible but at a steep price.

Originally Hewllet Packard was making the tech 2 in the begining. Then A company called Vetronix was producing them. They either went under or Bosch bought them out because they now sale all there other products under the Bosch name.

In Used form there a dime a dozen on Ebay. Esspecially with the economy and all the dealers that were forced to close.

Nothing wrong with HPT or any other sofetware that is capable of Live data scanning but you have to include the price of the computer too! even though most people already have a laptop or computer that they can use you still have to Add that to the price. so if a generic laptop cost you $500-$800 and the price of the Software your still around $1000

I don't personall have that software so i am not sure how many different cars it will work with or if you have the abilty to work on CAN Protocall cars.

In my Opinion, For some one who wants to read codes, see basic live data, and work with most 1996 and newer cars, some of those hand held pocket type scan tools can't be beat for around $300. Plus its alot easier to move around and alot less parts to break. Most are even updateable now Via the internet.

I am Looking forward to trying HPT and EVI Live in the future.

As of now (since I'm still learning) I'm thinking of the Aeroforce Interceptor. I can pick one up for 230.00

When time comes to replace my desk top I may go with a laptop and then pick up some diagnostic software

What handhelds are available (upgradeable over the internet) for around 300.00

Ya, I was just verifying & maybe just a little, bustin your chops on spelling. I kinda figured u meant Bosch.

I never even thought of addin laptop cost in; I was gonna buy 1 just for that, so I don't have to use my bro.'s.

True, most already have a computer in general. I just want my own laptop.

$649 for HPT Pro. Whether HPT or EFI Live, each has things I like bout both, but the other doesn't include. It was a tossup.

How many cars it works on varies, but u have a certain amt. of credits. Depends on your path, so to speak. COS & options eat more credits up/ add to bottom line. As far as CAN, I don't have anything newer than my '04.

No biggie. LOL mines only an 2000. Only the higher end models recieved the Can protocall around 05 like some of the Cadillacs.

The original Topic starter was looking for something cost effect that does more then Just read the codes with out breaking the bank.

You don't need Pro just to read the codes. Obviously your gonna tune with it. You only need the pro to tune with a wide band. I believe they have a scan only version that does not edit the tables thats around $300 But as I mentioned earlyer I am not sure if it has CAN protocall on it or if it works on all cars on the market. Plus you have to have a Lap top to drag around from car to car not to mention the additional cost.
