Damn Piston slap on these early ones... Still has around 60 PSI on start up and never drops below 40 PSI in the hotest conditons. Gas milage sucks could probally use a set of 02 sensors and I bet the piston rings arent in the greatest shape from it running hot and low oil...
changed
1 set of plug wires
2 sets of spark plugs
1 water pump. Turned out to be bad gaskets but already had the pump so I changed it out any way.
1 Fuel Pump
2 Main belts
1 Ac belt
1 set of rotors and pads all 4 corners
3 sets of tires
1 set of rims
1 Drive shaft bearing on the 2 peice drive shaft.
1 trans not because it went out but because it felt week esspecially after long drives and I wanted to maintain reliablity. Also didn't have a cooler on it.
1 center jump seat/arm rest cover... The lids always go bad...
Service fluids regularly or as needed if sooner

4.8, but I just passed 200,000 miles, and no engine or transmission trouble until a couple weeks ago. The engine did not use a drop of oil between oil changes (every 3,000 miles). NOW, however, I have all of a sudden smoke pouring out of the tail pipe at start up, and oil consumption like crazy.

My old 1500 had 187k when it was totaled. Current truck has a little over 166k now and ran a best of 10.17 in the 1/8 in 4WD
Oil pressure is almost always right at 60psi sometimes gets as low as 45-50 depending on the day. Uses maybe a quart every 6k with Amsoil 5w-30.
