Just put an edge on this thing. I almost wore out my Lansky.

I don't have a lot of woodworking tools so I don't know how I'm going to cut and form the handle pieces. That Canadian maple is hard as rock!

I've been working on the knife today. Picked up some maple and some cherry flooring scraps as well as some brass 1/4 inch rod for the handle. I have the other side profiled and am working toward an edge. Symmetry is the hard part but it's looking good so far. Will post some updates as I go. I'm going to polish it up real nice. I know getting the tool marks out is going to be a bitch.
I would just prep and spray it like i would a gun. Holds up pretty good, ive stabbed through car doors with just minor scratching and wear to the finish

Thanks for the offer to coat it but I took the liberty of finishing it up tonight. I ended up using cherry wood for the handles as I screwed up the maple. Unfortunately, the holes came out a little ragged but otherwise I'm happy as can be about the project. Pinned it with brass and stained it. It's a hefty knife that holds a nice edge. Now to make a sheath...

Here are some pics:

I think it looks nice. I definitely appreciate good workmanship and the urge to go out and make a knife on your own.

I think I may start something like this. Just sucks I won't be able to do too much with it since I would have to go to my parents to work on it.
