i also love shooting the old millitary rifles i have about 6 garrands and 1 is chambered in .308 it was done by the italians little shorter barrel ect.. fun sport ! also have a s&w 50 wheel gun boy thats fun also !

I have my AR chambered for 6.8. Love it, but the rounds are pricey...$21-30 per box. Someone said it, get an AR in 5.56, then get a different caliber upper if you want. I don't know what some of these guys are talking about regarding the lowers not being usable for other uppers. as far as I know, They are two totally parade pieces that aren't dependent on each other. All you Need is a new bolt and upper.

A .308 upper will NOT work on a 5.56 lower. The case length of the .308 is longer than the inner/outer dimensions of the magwell of the 5.56 lower, AND the upper reciever is a bit longer and detent/take down pins will not line up between the two.
