Default FINALLY found an XDs

Ive been looking for one for a while like most have, but was waiting for Springfield to do their gear up program before I bought one online. Well it looks like they might not be doing that program this year and when I walked into Academy there just so happened to be one sitting in the gun case. It also happened to be the dayI was going to the gun range, so I couldnt resist. 20 minutes later I was out the door with my new XDs

Its definitely a snappy little gun but shoots well given its weight and the lead it slings. I believe my sights may be off just a little as it seems to hit to the right about 3" at 10yds. Im not too worried about it as Ill be sending the slide out for some night sights anyway. I know this is a thread about nothing, but Im really excited about finally getting a gun Ive been wanting since I started reading about it at the beginning of the year.

Some comparison shots of it with my 5.25 45 XDm

Need to research what holster to get for IWB and OWB. The paddle holster is comes with is alright but it doesnt tuck up close enough to my skinny ***. Also need to pick up an actual thick gun belt to use, my cheapo cowboy belt is way too flimsy for OWB carry.

If anyone in the Austin area wants to try it out youre more than welcome to. I wouldve really liked to be able to shoot it before I bought it but couldnt find any to rent and I never seemed to be able to meet up with some of the guys who were going to the range. Good thing I really like it. It really could benefit from the 7 round mag for both capacity and a little more solid feel. Never been able to get totally comfortable with not having my pinky wrapped around the grip. All in all Id say its a solid choice for a carry gun when you need a pocket gun. I think my next one will be a 3.9 compact in 9mm for OWB carry during the winter when Ive usually got a Carhartt jacket on to cover it up.

As a Glock fanboy, I must admit, I'm very impressed with the XDS so far. Just need to actually shoot one.

That's cool Cody, congrats !

I've been wanting one since you posted a while ago about them, looks like a great carry gun.

But I also need to physically hold one before I decide , I've also been looking at the Kimber compact .45 , but I like the price of the xds better , and prob don't need to worry about it getting beat up from daily carry,

Keep us up to date on this little guy, I like the idea of .45 power in a small package .

Personally, I think the Kimbers are about the most over-rated handguns out there. For the price they dont deliver anything but being picky with ammo and reliability issues compared to cheaper options. Thats not to say theyre junk, they just dont perform as well as they should for the cost. Plus for a carry gun I like a polymer frame to keep weight down. The lighter guns will hug you better with an OWB holster as they wont be bending your belt due to heavy top weight over the holster.

I really like it so far, I dont know that its really any better than other options but for the price its hard to beat. Springfield makes some good firearms and will fit in well with my two other XD pistols.

Honestly, if youre comfortable with the thickness of a double stack gun there is no reason to get this one. With my string-bean *** a double stack is uncomfortable and I want to be able to carry IWB comfortable.
