Default Got another rimfire

Been looking to get a host for the sparrow Ive got coming and just couldnt bring myself to tear apart my 25 year old 10/22 that I learned to shoot on. Figured I might as well go bolt action for as quiet shooting as possible. In my searching I found some threads on snipershide about these and decided for 250 bucks it would be hard to go wrong with it. Savage Mark II FV-SR, comes with a threaded and fluted barrel and the accutrigger. The stock is garbage and the bottom metal as well as mag are chessy as hell but what do you expect for 250 bucks?

With a suppressor on the end the 16" barrel looks perfect IMO

First mods will be a new boyds tacticool stock, should end up looking like this fully outfitted

But Ill be going with this scope since it will be only used for subsonic close in work and at night too
Falcon Menace 1.5-5x30 Tactical 30mm Riflescope

Going to go with an EGW scope base and DIP bottom metal kit since the factory stuff is so damn cheesy. Then Ill get my dad to hydrodip the whole thing in this pattern.

Should be a fun little gun for its intended use. Next up will be a 10/22 tactical style build to throw the suppressor on and a 10/22 in pink for the wife so I can keep her off my guns

Very Nice! I've got the standard MKII fv with an accu trigger. It is VERY good shooter. Have you done anything with the trigger?

You laugh, but those cheesy mags are the most reliable 22 magazines ive ever used. Ive got two 10s and a 5.

I tested 35 diff brands of 22 ammo, SK Standard Plus did the best. 10rds in 1.125" group at 100yds.
Best was .625" group with 5 shots.
Its a serious turtle/squirrel blaster

I dunno if i still have the pics but ill try to dig them up

I copied this from one my post on the local gun forum. We use to do 100 and 200yd Fclass 22LR matchs. It was a ton o fun!!

Wooden target is at 100yds and my truck is somewhere back there at 200yds.

I checked Zero at 100yds and worked it out to 200yds. SK Standard plus 1067fps -/+ 12fps in the 100rds i fired.
It took 18MOA to get it out to 200 from 100, only have 8MOA left in the scope.

My first 5 are in that fully looking group that zigzags, and the wind started picking up and i was just guessing and shooting. Im still pretty happy with the results.
Later on the wind got pretty bad, changing from 6oclock to 3oclock @ 10-15mph. I was having to hold 16" into the 3oclock wind.

This might help some people, its close enough to get on paper i think..
It shows 1000ft Elevation and 1050fps.. Im at 210ft and 1067fps so maybe thats why there is a 1MOA difference in the chart. 1MOA at 200yds is still on paper tho

You ever test the aguilas 60grs for keyholing? I still dont know how you've had so many problems with ruger mags, I've got my two original mags from 1990 that have never been cleaned other than some brake cleaner and compressed air and they work fine. Im sure the savage mags will serve me well. I need to pick up a couple 10rd mags too.

Have not messed with the trigger at all yet, is there something I should know? Its got a little creep to it that I'll try and polish out otherwise I'll probably ditch it for a rifle basix unit.

PM me if your interested in making it any lighter then stock. The stock accu-trigger can be made much nicer and lighter then the RB drop in...

I took the spring loaded deal out of mine. feels much better..

I got one 10/22 mag in the door of my truck. Can put 10 rds in it and shoot twice, gotta pull the mag out and hit it onsomething to get the rest of the ammo to feed up.. do that again after the next 2-3 rds.

mind you ive got almost 500,000 rds thru one of my 10/22s.

Hit it a few times and it would turn just enough where you cant see the face of any of the targets.

I wouldn't take out the sear engagement blocking safety blade, In both my triggers I need it for 2 stage type feel. Cause when you touch the trigger it fires. I have a 93fv and a MKIIfv and both have triggers that are under a 1 lbs pull.
But I like em light!
