The majority of the people out there cant shoot as good as the rifle. So the first thing is practice. My 308 has a 3# trigger from the factory and i havent touched it.
First thing is a decent scope thats repeatable and tracks true.
Second is your ammo, needs to be consistant.
And practice practice practice. 100yds doesnt show much, stretch it out to atleast 300yds and have fun.
What twist is your barrel?

Optics play a huge part in anything you do over 200 yards. I have been shooting Nikon for years and I just recently got one of their Monarch X scopes on the DPS LR308 and absolutely love it...
the 22-250 Sako has a Nikon monarch 6-24-50 nikoplex SF that will be used for varmints.
the .270 Sako has a nikon monarch 4-16-50 BDC SF that I will be using for larger game.
Both the Sako triggers are at 2#s and love them the DPS needs a trigger job bad.. They are notorious for shitty trigger creep.

Perfect timing on this thread. Went to play at 300 last night to get a zero and it was my first time shooting with other f-class guys. It was a little bit humbling.
I'll be shooting a 3 day match this weekend so it should be interesting. Course of fire is:
Saturday
15 shots @300 yrds
15@600
15@500
15@900
Sunday
7@300
7@500
7@600
15@600
10@1000
Monday
15@900
15@900
15@1000
I'll try to snap some pictures this weekend. I'll be shooting a Rem700 thats been tuned a bit in 6.5x55 with a Nightforce BR 8-32x56. I just picked it up last year and finally got a load down for it a couple weeks ago.

Ive never heard of that before. Ive had real good luck with 1964 LC Match 173gr thru my rifle. Its pretty consistant for ammo that old.
Its hard to beat federal gold 175gr. I know a few guys that use it in matchs.
